Improving disability awareness

Educational Objective

Elimination of social prejudice and discrimination against people with disabilities, promotion of social participation and rights of people with disabilities, and creation of integrated society for people with and without disabilities

Legal Grounds (Statutory Education)

Article 25-2 of the Act on Welfare of Persons with Disabilities, Article 16-2 to Article 16-4 of the Enforcement Decree, and Article 2-2 to Article 2-7 of Enforcement Rule (June 4, 2021)

Targets

Faculty and students of schools, technical colleges, and distance colleges, including industrial colleges, teachers’ colleges, junior colleges, air and correspondence colleges, broadcasting and communication colleges, etc., established under the Higher Education Act.

Educational Contents

  • Understanding of disability and people with disability and enhancement of positive awareness
  • Laws and systems related to the human rights of people with disabilities
  • Respect for the diversity of disability
  • Respect for the autonomy and independence of people with disabilities
  • Understanding of accessibility to assistive apparatus and convenience facilities for people with disabilities
  • Other contents that improve awareness of people with disabilities

Education Method

  • Mandatory education of at least 1 hour once a year through distance education, experience-focused education, etc., using collective education or Internet lectures
  • Internet lectures for enrolled students (undergraduate and graduate students) are provided by on school LMS (lms.cha.ac.kr) – MOOC.
